What is the ASB101K Entrepreneurship Competition?

The ASB101K is an entrepreneurial competition, hosted by the Asia School of Business, that brings together, in two different tracks, talented students and aspiring entrepreneurs from Southeast Asia to address current market challenges and opportunities through innovative technology-driven solutions.


ASBK101K Objective

ASB101K is looking for the most scalable, sustainable, and innovative business solution that addresses a genuine business problem with respect to its target market. Through the competition, our intention is to develop successful start-ups by strengthening their business model, giving financial support, and improving the entrepreneur’s communication and business skills, while creating an ecosystem of entrepreneurs and investors. We welcome innovative technology-driven solutions in the areas of Agriculture, Education, Environment, Finance, Healthcare, ICT, and other sectors.


Team Eligibility

Student Track

  1. We welcome venture ideas that are at proof of concept stage/ prototype stage.

  2. Open to students of Undergraduate / Masters / PhD programs in any discipline.

  3. Student teams can be from any University or University College in the South East Asia.

  4. Students from different institutions may form a team and apply.

  5. Each team must comprise 3 to 5 members.

Start-up Track

  1. Open to any early-stage start-ups based in the South East Asia region that was registered after 1st January 2019.

  2. Eligible start-ups are those at inventor-stage or seed-stage and those with a prototype/product.

  3. Each team must comprise 2 to 4 members.

  4. Each team must provide a copy of the company or business registration certificate at the time of application.

Student Track

First prize: MYR 101,000

Runner - up: MYR: 20,000

3rd & 4th place: MYR 5,000

Start-up Track

First prize: MYR 101,000

Runner - up: MYR: 20,000

3rd & 4th place: MYR 5,000

A total of MYR 262,000 cash awards is available for winners and the cash award will be paid to the designated member of each team through a check or wire transfer.

Showcase your ideas to a diverse audience. Receive validation, advice, and feedback.

Get coaching and business skills

The Judges will be providing feedback to teams in real-time, as well as one-to-one coaching to prepare the semi-finalist teams.

Build a stronger network

Entrepreneurs and start-ups need a supportive ecosystem to flourish and the ASB101K will foster productive and meaningful relationships.

Gain access to funding

Start-ups need financial support and exposure to investment community. Through our network of partners, the ASB101K will be able to help.

Round 3 (In Person*) - Semi Finals and Finals

March 18, 2022 - Updated Business Model Deadline

An updated Business Model Document (Optional) due by 11:55 PM KL Time

April 02, 2022 - Semi-Finals

10-minute presentation followed by a 30-minute Q&A session.

101 seconds Elevator pitch

April 03, 2022 - Finals

Each team is allocated 20 minutes, with the first 5 minutes as uninterrupted presentation time.

*Semi-Finals and Finals will be in-person at ASB Campus in Kuala Lumpur. However, pandemic related restrictions may force the event to be held in hybrid or fully online mode instead. We will keep you posted.
